MEJ WC Scholarship Application

2019 MEJ Women’s Convention: Scholarships

The MEJ Women’s Convention Scholarship (MEJ WC), sponsored by the MEJ Business & Professional Women’s Federation (MEJ B&PWF): has been established to financially assist students who are members of Southern California Metropolitan Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction (MEJ).  The MEJ WC Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to High School Seniors and College Students who have already enrolled their first year of college, or who are continuing their pursuit of higher degrees, or professional certifications.

 

The purpose of MEJ WC Scholarship is to award scholarships to our future leaders/candidates who meet ALL eligibility requirements listed below. Funds are distributed based on contributions to meet our objectives.

 

Candidate eligibility requirements are as follows:

  • The candidate must be an active “CURRENT” member of a local church & district (in MEJ) and in good standing (validated by 1st Lady or Pastor and the District Missionary) and recognizable at the jurisdiction level.

  • The candidate must have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (C)

  • scale (or higher) in grades.

  • The scholarship award must be used for costs incurred in attending a high school or college/university of acceptance.

Scholarship Applications

  • Scholarship applications are available on MEJ website beginning July 11, 2019

  • Completed MEJ Scholarship application and supporting documents must be submitted to the Scholarship Committee, via email, at: scholarshipfund@mejbusinesswomen.org

  • All scholarship applications must be time-stamped (email) by 5:00 p.m. August 5, 2019 Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted. (there will be no exceptions to the deadline)

 

Selection Criteria & Award Process

  1. Each applicant must meet all eligibility requirements and submit a completed application with supporting information to be considered.

  2. After the deadline date for submission of all scholarship application packets, the applications will be scored and ranked by individuals who are not present or former members of MEJ.

  3. Scholarship recipient(s) will be notified prior to the date of public announcement, Sunday, August 18, 2019 at 3:30 p.m.. (during the MEJ Women’s Convention)

  4. Recipients must be in attendance to receive their Scholarship.

  5. Funds will be distributed to the school, College or University of attendance, not to the recipient.

  6. The selection criteria involves proof of  grade point average, proof enrollment in school, college or university, resume, recent color photo, and pertinent application information.

  7. Questions regarding applications and process should be directed to the Scholarship Committee at: scholarshipfund@mejbuisnesswomen.org
